10 Guiding Principles

  • Menghargai dan tanggap terrhadap keprihatinan masyarakat mengenai bahan kimia
  • Mengembangkan dan menghasilkan bahan kimia yang dapat dibuat, diangkut, dipakai dan dibuang secara aman.
  • Memprioritaskan aspek kesehatan, keselamatan, dan lingkungan dalam perencanaan seluruh produk baik yang ada saat ini dan produk baru serta prosesnya.
  • Memberikan informasi secara seksama kepada petugas, karyawan, pelanggan dan masyarakat tentang bahaya bahan kimia terhadap kesehatan, keselamatan dan lingkungan serta menganjurkan sarana pencegahannya.
  • Memberikan nasehat kepada pelanggan cara pemakaian, pengangkutan dan pembuangan yang aman dari bahan kimia.
  • Mengoperasikan pabrik dan fasilitas selayaknya untuk melindungi lingkungan dan kesehatan serta keselamatan karyawan dan masyarakat.
  • Memperluas pengetahuan dengan cara membantu penelitian terhadap dampak kesehatan, keselamatan, dan lingkungan dari produk, proses dan limbahnya.
  • Bekerjasama dengan industri lainnya untuk mencegah permasalahan yang disebabkan oleh penanganan terdahulu dan pembuangan bahan berbahaya.
  • Bekerjasama dengan pemerintah dan industri lainnya dalam merancang peraturan standard yang sesuai untuk melindungi masyarakat, ruang kerja dan lingkungan.
  • Mengembangkan prinsip-prinsip dan mempraktekkan Responsible Care® dengan cara berbagi pengalaman dan menawarkan bantuan kepada siapapun yang menghasilkan, menangani, menggunakan, mengangkut dan membuang bahan kimia.

    Code of Management Practices

    COMMUNITY AWARENESS AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE (CAER)

    The Community Awareness and Emergency Response aims to assure emergency preparedness and to foster community right-to-know. It builds on the success of voluntary program by emphasizing a broader dialogue and interaction with many audiences including employees, the general public and government agencies, as well as emergency responders.

    DISTRIBUTION

    The Distribution Code governs member companies’ management commitment and actions taken to ensure preservation of the environment, protection of health and safety of employees as well as the community during the handling, storage and transport of chemicals.

    EMPLOYEE HEALTH AND SAFETY

    The Employee Health and Safety Code governs member company action regarding health and safety of people involved in operational activities, particularly in order to fulfil the Guiding Principle of Responsible Care.

    POLLUTION PREVENTION

    The Pollution Prevention Code is to achieve ongoing reduction of releases to the air, land and water; and ongoing reduction of wastes generated at facilities. It also covers waste management issues in regulatory compliance, implement policies of elimination, reduction, recycling, treatment and disposal; and handling, storage and transport of wastes.

    PROCESS SAFETY

    The Process Safety Code is designed to prevent fires, explosions and accidental chemical releases. The Code comprises a series of management practices that reflect this goal, with the expectation of continual performance improvement for each management practice. The practices are based on the principle that facilities will be safe if they are designed according to sound engineering practices, built, operated and maintained properly and periodically reviewed for conformance.

    PRODUCT STEWARDSHIP

    The Product Stewardship is the responsible and ethical design and management of products throughout their entire product life cycle; in order to ensure health and safety and protect people and the environment.

    SECURITY

     The Security Code Management Practices is to help protect people, property, products, processes, information, and information systems by enhancing security throughout the chemical industry value chain. This Code is designed to help companies achieve continuous improvement in security performance using a risk-based approach to identify, assess and address vulnerabilities, prevent or mitigate incidents, enhance training and response capabilities, and maintain and improve relationships with key stakeholders and authorities.
